Western Swing
and the Singing Cowboys
This Page Under Construction:
In early 2008, Dan will debut his Western Swing Show.
This show will be a faithful recreation of the music you
would have heard in the dance halls from the 1930's to
the 1940's. Relive the music of Bob Wills, Spade Cooley,
Son's of the Pioneers and more. This will be a labor of
love.

A few more notes: This page will contain
information on the music, band leaders and
musicians who pioneered the art. There will
also be audio and video samples of Dan's
show.
There is a great deal of history for the
few short years that this music reigned as
one of the most popular art forms.
We will endeavour to present the history
of this music in a manner that will allow you
to enjoy and understand it.
This page will be under construction for
some time to come. If you have any comments,
please email this site.
Keep visiting and thank you.

Update: 1/13/2009. I have not given up all hope of launching this project! It's been a lot of
work this year with booking and playing 'bread and butter' gigs. I also moved into a new
house and there has been a lot of decorating, not to mention building a new studio. I've
been testing material with the crowds to see what works best. I will have some audio clips
on this page shortly. A great many people are not familiar with the music, but the response
has been great! Keep watching this page: Things will be developing quickly from here on in!

Somewhere in the past, we grew up. We all have a sense of ourselves
as bigger, better and more important than our predecessors. For those
of you who don't remember: There was a time when we were all just a
little more humble, a little more in awe of the world around us and a lot
happier. It was those times that gave rise to this music.
Times have always been hard and things always look prettier when you
look back. But one thing is plain: You can get a damn good feel for the
mood of the times by listening to the music. It doesn't matter whether I
sing 'Faded Love', 'San Antonio Rose' or any of a number of other songs
from this era: The reaction is the same; people are uplifted. I can see in
their faces.
Western Swing and Western Music has an optimism that lets you listen
to the worst hard luck story and still get the sense that everything will be
OK! I guess it's because folks back then had so many hard times that
they had a courage and common sense to take things in stride. It sure
does come through in the music.
I'll try to cram as much info on this page as possible, so you can get
all the information about this music: There's more to it than you think!
Keep visiting and try to catch one of the shows. I'll have a schedule on
this page.
